After growing up in Minnesota, Luke moved to Long Island where he attended LIU’s Southampton College for two years before transferring to Stony Brook University where he graduated Cum Laude with a degree in Environmental Studies with a Marine Science concentration. Immediately after graduating he began working for Southampton Town’s Environmental Division where he learned to delineate a diverse array of wetland habitats. After a few years with Southampton, he was hired by the Town of Brookhaven as an Environmental Analyst working on a wide variety of projects. 

Over the years, Luke has written Environmental Impact Statements for municipal land use plans, secured grant funding for open space and restoration projects, prepared open space management plans and has worked with public and private land owners on habitat restoration and reclamation projects. Luke is also an accomplished and published wildlife photographer and writer.
